Dealing with Push Notifications

I find push notifications distracting. So I’ve decided to do something about it. Starting now, every time I get a notification, I’m going to take a moment to evaluate if the notification was important enough for me to stop doing whatever I was doing. If I find that it wasn’t, I’m going to disable all push notifications for the app that sent the notification. I’ll re-enable them later, but only when I really feel the need to see notifications from the app. But I’ll re-disable push notifications for the app the next time it sends an irrelevant notification. I’ll do this for a while till I converge to a set of apps for which I keep disabling and enabling notifications over and over. I’m not leaving out any apps from this experiment. Not even WhatsApp and Gmail. Let’s see where this takes me.
